Frome, Piddle & West Dorset Fisheries Association

A vibrant organisation working with many others, such as EA, NE, CEH, FWAG, WW, to enhance fisheries and the aquatic environment on behalf of the riparian owners, fishermen and conservationists of Dorset.

Recent Achievements:

• Improvements for Salmonid migration at Bindon Hatches and campaigning for the construction of a state of the art fish pass at Louds Mill weir, Dorchester.
• Following years of campaigning, a circa 30% reduction in water abstraction from the River Piddle catchment.
• Promotion of "river sensitive" farming methods.
• Gravel cleaning and research into sources of silt in our river systems.

Aims for the future:

• Reduce silt and phosphate burdens in our rivers.
• Further improve conditions for salmonid migration.
• Reduce poaching in Poole harbour and in our rivers.
• Encourage fisheries to return all salmon and ban the use of worm.
